WHAT:

Toronto Summer Music Festival is a four week festival that is looking to explore the ways music affects our moods and emotions through the theme, “The Magical World of Music.” The Festival features over 60 internationally acclaimed artists performing in over 30 events, such as, concerts, workshops and lectures. The Festival dovetails with the Toronto Summer Music Academy, which gives young musicians, at the threshold of their careers, an opportunity to study with an international faculty through master classes, chamber music coaching, percussion and voice workshops and student performance opportunities.

WHO:

Canadian and international artists such as, pianist Anton Kuerti, the Berlin Philharmonic Woodwind Quintet, the Leipzig String Quartet, pianist Menahem Pressler, vocal performers Karina Gauvin and Lorna MacDonald, Juno-Award winning Gryphon Trio and many others. The Festival also includes Academy student concerts featuring musicians at the threshold of their careers and culminates with four fully-staged performances of Rossini’s Barber of Seville, conducted by Maestra Agnes Grossmann with stage direction by Michael Patrick Albano. In addition, various vocal and instrumental masterclasses are open to the public to audit.

A Night at the Movies
NEXUS percussion ensemble
