APPLICANTS WILL RECEIVE NEWS OF THEIR APPLICATION RESULTS BY MARCH 1 2012.

One session only, from July 15 to 29, 2012. Maximum 8 singers and 4 pianists

All participants will receive a full fellowship covering tuition. Housing will be provided as needed with participants placed with host families in private residences and/or in university residences.

The Art of Song program accepts pianists and singers between the ages of 18 and 35. Artists can apply as individuals or as pre-formed duos. The program offers a two-week immersion in the world of art song under the guidance of internationally-renown Resident Artist Mentors.

Participants will study with all faculty members, both voice and piano, thus receiving advice from a variety of musical perspectives. Language and acting teachers will offer detailed study of each song’s text in addition to providing diction coaching.

Performing is an essential component of the program and participants will perform at numerous outreach concerts and at Mentors and Fellows Concerts as part of the Toronto Summer Music Festival.

All applications must include a digital video recording of 20-30 minutes duration, featuring excerpts of works in varying style and character.

Upon acceptance, final repertoire to be presented during the session will be decided in advance in consultation with the Artistic Director.
